Last week, Indiana’s Stellar Communities initiative received the 2012 Presidential Award for Innovation from the Council of State Community Development Agencies.
According to a news release from Lt. Governor Becky Skillman’s Office, the award “recognizes activities, policies or program that have been implemented at the state level, which have demonstrated success in solving community needs.” The news release also highlights Greencastle’s partnership with DePauw University in moving forward economic and community plans.
Both Greencastle and North Vernon were selected for the Stellar Communities pilot program in March 2011. In May of this year, the Lt. Governor announced that Delphi and Princeton were named Stellar Communities.
Look for Lt. Governor Skillman in Greencastle this week, for the opening of DePauw’s new campus community bookstore on Thursday.
