Building Inspector
The Building Commissioner’s responsibilities include; reviewing plans, issuing permits, inspecting residential, commercial and industrial structures during various stages of construction to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances and regulations.

City Attorney
The Legal Department provides legal advice, representation and services for the Mayor and the City Departments, City Council, Clerk-Treasurer, Board of Public Works and Safety, Redevelopment Commission, Citizens Advisory Commission for Industrial Development, Board of Parks and Recreation, Plan Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals.

Fire Department
Today, the Greencastle Fire Department is an all-hazards department, that responds to over 1600 calls for service per year. We employ 17 full-time firefighters and EMTs that protect the 36 square miles that is Greencastle and Greencastle Township.

Parks & Recreation
The mission of the Greencastle Parks & Recreation Department is to provide wholesome recreational opportunities, which reflect the interests and needs of the Greencastle community and to plan, acquire, develop, and maintain quality parks and facilities that will enhance the City of Greencastle.

Department of Public Works
The Department of Public Works plays a crucial role in our community. Its dedication to fostering a safe and well-maintained infrastructure directly impacts community development and resilience. The Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining and improving all public roadways, sidewalks, alleys, and municipal parking areas. Additionally, they serve our community's daily needs by mowing public right-of-ways, street sweeping, leaf collection, and snow removal. Andrew Rogers has served as Street Superintendent for the City since 2020. In this vital role, he collaborates with various groups, including government agencies, contractors, and community organizations, to deliver effective public services. His expertise guides the planning and execution of projects that promote safety, efficiency, and sustainability, while adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.

Storm Water / MS4 Program
Storm water can be found everywhere! According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA,), "Storm water runoff is generated from rain and snowmelt events that flow over land or impervious surfaces, such as paved streets, parking lots, and building rooftops, and does not soak into the ground. The runoff picks up pollutants like trash, chemicals, oils, and dirt/sediment that can harm our rivers, streams, lakes, and coastal waters."

Trash & Recycling
The City of Greencastle’s agreement with Republic Services, Inc., to offer curbside trash and recycling toters offers several great features for households in our city.

Wastewater
The City of Greencastle owns and operates a wastewater collections system and treatment facility that processes and treats sanitary waste for Greencastle and Fillmore Indiana.

Water
The current Greencastle water facility went into operation in July of 1997. The new treatment plant has the capability of 4.3 MGD (millions of gallons per day), which is drawn from wells located along Big Walnut Creek near the water treatment facility.
